Why Upgrade From the Stock OEM Harley-Davidson Headlight?

A lot of riders assume that because their Harley-Davidson came from the factory with an LED headlight, there's no reason to upgrade. That's simply not the case. Like most things that come OEM, the stock headlight is good enough to get the job done, but it's far from the best. Harley-Davidson has to keep the price of the bike reasonable, so they're not going to put the most advanced, brightest headlight on the market into your bike at the factory.

When we pulled the stock OEM headlight out of the fairing, the difference in build quality was immediately obvious. The OEM headlight is surprisingly light and feels cheap in your hand. The back of it is made of a hard plastic. Pick up the Hogworkz Silvertooth and it's a completely different story. It's solid, noticeably heavier, and built with all-metal construction and cooling fins on the back. You can feel the quality the second you hold it.

Hogworkz Silvertooth & Goldtooth LED Headlight Specs

This Hogworkz LED Silvertooth Performance Headlight is designed specifically for the 2023.5 and newer Harley-Davidson models with the redesigned batwing fairing, like the Street Glide. We also carry a version in the Law Abiding Biker Store for the pre-2024 models with the older fairing design, both batwing and sharknose. It features 10 individual LED lights that deliver serious output. On low beam, four LEDs produce 4,200 lumens, which is 90% brighter than the stock OEM headlight. Switch to high beam and six additional LEDs kick in, adding another 5,400 lumens for a total of 9,600 lumens. That makes the high beam 45% brighter than the OEM.

When you're riding at night, every bit of additional light matters for safety. You really can't have too much. The Silvertooth also features a halo ring that surrounds the entire headlight with an amber glow, giving it a modern and aggressive look.   If for whatever reason you don't want the halo light, you can simply leave it disconnected.

There is also the Goldtooth version, which is the same headlight but with a yellow/gold color accent instead of the silver. Both are available in the Law Abiding Biker store.

Installation — Plug and Play on Your Harley-Davidson Street Glide

One of the best things about the Hogworkz Silvertooth is that it's a completely plug-and-play install. There's no splicing, cutting, or custom wiring involved. You'll remove the batwing fairing, swap out the stock OEM headlight from the bracket, slide the Silvertooth into its place using all the original hardware, plug it in, and reinstall the fairing. It's a straightforward process that takes minimal time and tools for a massive upgrade in both looks and performance.

Night Test — OEM vs Hogworkz Silvertooth Head-to-Head

This is where things really got interesting. I took the bike out at night and did a side-by-side comparison between the stock OEM headlight and the Hogworkz Silvertooth. I switched them back and forth so you can see the real-world difference in the video.

The difference was honestly shocking. The Silvertooth lights up the road significantly more than the OEM headlight on both low and high beam. The spread of light is wider and the throw is noticeably farther down the road. If you ride at night at all, this is a safety upgrade that you can actually see and feel on the road. What About Pre-2024 Harley-Davidson Models and Road Glides?

If you have an older Harley-Davidson with the previous generation batwing fairing, Hogworkz has you covered. We carry the Silvertooth and Goldtooth headlights for the pre-2024 batwing fairing and shark nose fairing (Road Glide) models right now in the Law Abiding Biker store.

For the 2024 and newer Road Glide with the redesigned shark nose fairing, Hogworkz has a new version coming soon. As soon as it's available, it will be in the Law Abiding Biker store and we will be doing a full install and review video on that headlight as well.

Complementary Lighting Upgrades

While we had the fairing apart, it's worth mentioning a couple of other lighting upgrades that pair perfectly with the Hogworkz Silvertooth. The Ciro Goatee Light replaces that ugly stock OEM piece of black plastic below the headlight and adds an additional light that also functions as a turn signal. The Ciro Vent Light sits above the headlight and adds even more lighting with signal capability as well. Both are available in black or chrome and for both the batwing and shark nose fairing. These are available in the Law Abiding Biker store.

The Hogworkz LED Silvertooth & Goldtooth Performance Headlight is one of those upgrades that honestly exceeded my expectations. The build quality, the brightness, and the overall look it gives the front of the Harley-Davidson Street Glide is a massive improvement over the stock OEM headlight. It's a plug-and-play install that takes minimal time and the results speak for themselves. If you ride at night, this is a no-brainer safety upgrade. If you care about how the front of your bike looks, this is going to completely transform it.
