**Our Measurements (always measure yourself)

  • Stock clutch cable= 60 inches
  • Stock upper ABS Upper Brake Line= 23 inches

Stock 2016 Dyna Low Rider S handlebars/risers= 6 inch risers

  • We installed 12-inch Westcoast MX T-bars
    • We ordered +8 inches over stock cable/line length
      • It worked out just fine
    • Now that we have done this project, we can tell you that ordering 6″ over would have worked just fine too. We have some extra cable.

It is often times well over that amount, yet we know you can do this project yourself by watching this tutorial video. We teach you everything you will need to know and walk you through the entire process.

In this tutorial video, we install 12″ aftermarket T-bar handlebars & on a Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycle. We wired the new bars internally for that clean look. This #1 rated tutorial video will not only work for Harley-Davidson Dyna models, but also for Softail and Sportster Harley models.

You will not find a more thorough aftermarket handlebar install tutorial video out there. It is a video by bikers for bikers. You can put new handlebars on your Harley right in your garage or on your patio right on the kickstand! There are no specialty tools or motorcycle lifts required and I will give you a list of items you will need and things to think about later in this article.

The video is high definition and it's like you can reach out and turn the wrenches with us. In this video, we skip no steps and we have no doubt that after watching you can do this project with ease. Tons of bikers all over the world now have aftermarket handlebars on their Harley's because of this exact video. We are very detailed in our explanations and we want you to be successful. That is where we get our greatest satisfaction, hearing of successful installs!

There are many aftermarket handlebars for your Harley Davidson motorcycle in every shape, color, and size imaginable and the cost can vary just as much. There are many companies making quick connect/install kits. Most of these simple kits are the same and come with a bundle of colored wires for extending wire harnesses, quick connectors, and shrink tube. If you are going with taller style handlebars then the kit may also include an extended clutch cable and extended front brake lines.

Many of these handlebar wiring kits have quick connect pins for extending the stock wire harnesses. You usually take off the stock plastic Harley wire plugs, extend the wires with the quick kit colored wires, and then plug back into the stock plugs all without soldering. You can always snip the quick connectors that come with the wire kits and solder if you are more comfortable with that.

There are also kits with the OEM plugs on the end of the wire extensions to quickly hook up after soldering extensions in. Either way, we have you covered in this video. We filmed several different kits and show you how to proceed depending on your particular kit, which aren't much different.

We can tell you from experience that you will want to have a soldering iron and solder on hand. Often times because of bulky plugs it may be necessary to solder a bit to make things clean and easy. Your extension kit may require soldering. Don't worry, we make soldering so easy and show you exactly how to do it properly in this video.

Most the time you can go as tall as 12″ aftermarket handlebars without having to replace wires, cables, and lines. I said, “most the time”, so you need to do your own research for your particular year and model before you begin your project.

Harley Davidson and Harman Kardon just released Boom!™ Box software update version 1.20.3 in January of 2017. There are just some small behind the scenes fixes to version 1.20.2 that was released on October 17, 2016. Many of you know, HD pulled 1.20.2 shortly after release as some bikers were having problems. It's all fixed in 1.20.3 now, we hope.

We have received many inquiries from bikers asking if they should update to this latest version. It is always a good idea to wait and see if an update fixes more than it breaks and let me have some time to test things.

Note: This particular update if for the Boom Box 4.3 Standard, 6.5T Premium, and the CVO 6.5GT systems. I give the go ahead to update to this new Boom Box software update version, 1.20.3.

I installed and tested this software update for you. As usual, don't expect any miracles and that suddenly all things will be fixed for ever user. They still have a long way to go to get rid of all the problems that persist with the Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System. We are all skeptical that they'll ever get the Boom Box working perfectly at this point.

Install Harley 7-pin DIN Audio & Communications Kit/Plug & Learn What Headsets Will Work With the Boom Box

Question: If I get behind on updating my Boom Box software, will I have to go back and install each past update I missed?

Answer: No, you do not have to update incrementally. If you get behind, just grab the latest software update here and install it. It will update everything you need including past updates. There is no access to the older updates from the Harley website anyways.

Remember; The Harley Boom!™ Box still has many annoying bugs and problems, so don't expect this software update to suddenly fix everything.

Video-Drayko Drift Motorcycle Protective Riding Jeans-Biker Review & Test

There is nothing wrong with chaps if that's how you choose to roll. I just don't like the inconvenience of taking them on and off, the bulkiness, and weight. 

I am a rather progressive biker when it comes to equipment and I'm always looking for better things. Especially, things that have style to them and can protect me better than old school traditional motorcycle cruiser gear. 

There are an array of companies now making protective riding jeans. They vary in the protective materials they use and in price.  These jeans offer protection from the elements and offer so much more protection than chaps if you were to go down on your motorcycle. 

In this video, I am focusing on the Drayko Drift Riding Jeans. The Drift from Drayko are low-rise, relaxed fit riding jeans made with Military+ Grade DuPont™ Kevlar® and DSM Dyneema®, The World's Strongest Fiber. Drayko Drift jeans have Kevlar panels in key areas such as the knees, hips, and seat area that need protection if you go down. Video-How to Replace & Install a Shifter Lever Shaft Seal on a Harley-Davidson

It doesn't really matter the year or model of Harley, as this seal and setup has been used for a very long time.

This shift lever seal can go bad and start leaking oil. To get to it, you'll need to remove your entire primary drive.

Yup, we'll show you how to remove your entire Harley-Davidson primary drive, remove the shifter lever shaft seal, and then replace it. Then we show you how to put the entire primary back on.  We'll also show you some tips and tricks along the way.

Note: You'll need a replacement shifter lever shaft seal and appropriate primary gaskets and seals (shown in the video so check it out). You'll also need appropriate fluids to refill your primary drive.

VLOG-41-Harley Dyna Low Rider S Westcoast T-Bar Handlebars Install Project

We are installing 12″ Westcoast MX T-bars on a 2016 Harley Dyna Low Rider S. We have the bike on the lift in the Law Abiding Biker™ Garage. Lurch and I broke the Harley down this weekend and filmed it as usual. 

There is not much information out right now in catalogs and online on the Dyna Low Rider S, as it was a special production bike. So, we broke it down and measured the stock clutch cable and front upper brake line. We figured out how much over stock length we'd need to go to accommodate these 12″ T-bars. 

Armed with proper cable/line lengths, we ordered up what we'd need and had the shipping expedited, so we can put the bike back together next weekend.  After we film putting the bike back together, we'll get the video into edit and hopefully release it to the biker community soon!
