Frequently Asked Questions:
I have a different year Ultra classic FLHTC. Will this video help me? My kit number was HD 53303-07 and wire kit 70113-08.
Answer: Yes, the video will help you, but the kits are different. This video was made installing Harley kit # 53000291, which is an HD Detachable Tour Pak Conversion Kit for '14 and later models. It includes lights and the license plate mount because the '14 and newer Ultra Limited's incorporated those items into the OEM trunk and mount. When you remove your trunk you loose your rear lighting and license plate. So, the '14 and newer kit places the lighting and license plate in an alternate area.

Hi Ryan, very nice video, as any of the ones I have seen from lawabidingbiker.com
I was specifically interested in how to set the wiring properly. My current Ultra Limited is equipped with a detachable trunk installed by the dealer. In a couple of years the wires wore out the rear fender painting, leaving some nasty spots where the metal underneath is exposed. Not a nice thing to see (they become visible when the trunk is removed, even if I mask them a bit by adding a chrome shining detachable luggage rack).
I just ordered a new Ultra Limited and once again I will have the trunk detachable kit installed by the dealer. I wonder if you have any suggestion on how to properly run the wiring, in order to avoid incurring into the same issue. Thank you for the video, and for any suggestion you may share!

Does the video also discuss the wiring for the speakers onto a Street Glide that does not have the rear speakers?
Matt Couchman says
This is just for putting a detachable trunk kit on a bike such as the Ultra. It doesn’t cover adding speakers to a bike that doesn’t alrready have them, such as the Street Glide.

Discussed the issue with my guys st Woodstock HD. Best solution is to get a sheath (that’s adhesive backed) which is applied to fender. Sheath runs with and conforms to fender and is ‘fairly ‘ transparent. A Mustang fender bib can be applied over. This will protect the fender while detachable tour pack is on the bike. Creative trusses on the cables help in this instance as well.
