If you're looking to upgrade the comfort, functionality, and style of your Harley-Davidson, the Saddlemen Road Sofa Heated Touring Seat with Rider Backrest is worth serious consideration. In this article, I'll break down the installation process, ride impressions, and why this seat is a game-changer—especially for long-distance riders. (see video below)
We installed this premium seat on my 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and put it through real-world testing so you don’t have to.
Why Upgrade Your Harley Seat?
Let’s face it—stock Harley-Davidson seats are decent, but if you’re racking up serious miles, comfort becomes a priority. Lower back pain, tailbone pressure, and lack of passenger support are common complaints with OEM seats.
The Saddlemen Road Sofa isn’t just about luxury—it’s engineered to reduce rider fatigue, improve lumbar support, and keep you and your passenger happy for the long haul.

Installation Process
Tools Needed:
Step-by-Step Install Overview:
-
Remove the stock seat.
Disconnect any accessories or wiring (e.g. CVO seats with heating). -
Route the Saddlemen wiring harness.
Just plug the seat into one of the barrel type accessory plugs under the seat on 2020 and newer Harley model. If you have a pre 2021 model, you'll just need an additional wiring harness that attaches directly to the battery. There is an additional quick disconnect option if you like, making it easy to remove your seat. (Please check under your seat, regardless of your year, to make certain you have the barrel type accessory plugs available, otherwise you'll need the wiring harness). -
Plug in heating wires.
The rider and passenger heating elements each have their own switches, mounted on the seat’s left side. -
Install the rider backrest.
This is adjustable both vertically and in angle—set it to your liking for maximum lumbar support. Add the provided spacer if you want the backrest to sit further forward. -
Mount the seat.
Secure it with the provided hardware.
💡 Pro Tip: You can run a direct wire to the battery, but we recommend a switched power source so you don’t accidentally drain your battery.
Ride Impressions & Comfort
We took the Road Sofa on short and long rides to test performance:
-
Rider comfort: Noticeably less tailbone pressure. The Gel-Core absorbs road vibration and disperses weight better than stock.
-
Back support: The adjustable backrest made a huge difference, especially on longer runs.
-
Passenger comfort: A passenger will immediately notice the difference—more cushioning and better seating angle.
This seat elevates both comfort and confidence. You stay planted in the seat, even during aggressive riding or cornering.
💡 Pro Tip: Add a Butt Buffer seat cushion (made of hospital grade materials) to the seat to alleviate any possible pressure points and you can ride forever! Trust me!
Heating Function & Controls
Each seat (rider and passenger) has independent toggle switches mounted on the left side. Heat output is strong and warms quickly. This is ideal for early morning rides or colder climates. If you add the Butt Buffer seat cushion, the heat radiates directly thought it. No issues!
The heating system integrates cleanly and doesn’t feel bulky or intrusive.
Fit & Finish on the 2024 Street Glide
We installed this on a 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, and it fit perfectly. The stitching lines, profile, and material quality blend nicely with Harley’s modern aesthetic.
Nothing feels out of place. The seat maintains a custom yet factory-like appearance.
Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?
If you ride frequently or tour long distances, the Saddlemen Road Sofa Heated Touring Seat with Backrest is absolutely worth the investment.
If comfort, style, and functionality matter to you, this seat is a no-brainer upgrade.
