Harley Stage 1 & 2 Speakers with Boom Audio Amplifier Review & Information

Harley-Davidson has released the Boom! Audio Stage 1 & 2 motorcycle audio suite of speakers & amps. Many dealerships have the varying stage 1 & 2 speakers and amps set up on site in a display box and you can take a listen. I must say I was fairly impressed with the sound in the dealership. Note that the speakers were not actually installed in a Harley, which would be the real test.

The Harley Boom!™ Box Infotainment System comes standard now on 2014 & above Harley Davidson Touring Rushmore Project motorcycles. The stock Boom Box audio system already sounds pretty good compared to previous years, but the Boom Audio Stage 1 & 2 speakers and amplifier ad ons make it even better. But, not without a hefty price tag & confusion by dealerships.

Just to get started with the batwing fairing Boom!™ Audio speakers and amp you will be over $1,000. Add more if you have the dealership do the install. And don't forget the Boom!™ Box software update that will be needed to run the amp.

In my opinion, Harley Davidson has done a poor job on their website explaining the difference between Stage I & Stage II and it is hard to navigate to understand what components and wiring kits you need to actually purchase based on your needs. It is actually pretty frustrating at the time of this article. I tried to navigate through it for you, but I'm not even completely certain.

I have spoken with several HD dealerships about this equipment and the install. Even they are frustrated and don't have all the answers as of the date of this article. They stated that HD made it a very difficult and confusing process for the mechanics.

5 1/4″ two-way speakers powered by the stock 25 watts per channel amplifier

Boom Audio Stage 1 Speakers

6 1/2″ two-way speakers powered by the stock 25 watts per channel

Boom Audio Stage 1 Speakers with a Boom! Audio Amplifier

6 1/2″ two-way speakers powered by the 75 watts per channel Boom! Audio Amplifier

Boom Audio Stage 2 Speakers with a Boom! Audio Amplifier

6 1/2″ three-way speakers each powered by two 75 watt amplifier channels for a total of 10 watts per speaker

Note: If you choose the upgrade with a Boom Audio amplifier then a Dealer Digital Technician software update is required. Basically, they have to flash your Boom!™ Box system to work with the new amp(s). Harley dealerships are charging for this service.

Again, the Harley Davidson website is very confusing reference the Boom!™ Audio Stage I & Stage II speaker and amp kits, but I hope the information here is useful.
