If you've been wanting to add some real color to your Harley-Davidson without going overboard, this one's for you. We just installed the Klock Werks Kolor Flare Windshield and matching Flare Hand Guards in Orange Ice on a 2024 Street Glide, and the glow these things put off in natural sunlight genuinely caught us off guard. Both pieces — along with the standard Kolor (non-Ice) version we put on our COO Lurch's Road Glide — are available now in the Law Abiding Biker Store. (see video below)

We're swapping from an 8″ tinted Klock Werks Flare windshield to the 8″ Orange Ice version, and adding a matching set of Orange Ice Flare Hand Guards. If you're new to Klock Werks or you're still running an OEM windshield, stick around — we cover sizing, tools, and a few install details that'll save you some headaches.

What Is the Klock Werks Kolor Collection?

Klock Werks spells it “Kolor” with a K, and the lineup comes in two flavors: the standard Kolor colors (solid, opaque color) and the Ice Kolor colors, which have a translucent, almost glowing quality along the edges. Both the Flare Windshield and the Flare Hand Guards are available in the Kolor and Ice Kolor finishes, so you can color-match your whole front end if you want to go that route.

One thing to know up front: the Kolor and Ice Kolor windshields don't come in quite as many size options as the standard clear/tinted/dark smoke Flare windshields. For a Street Glide, the Kolor and Ice Kolor windshields come in 6.5″ and 8″ heights. For a Road Glide with the sharp-nose fairing, you've got 8″ and 10″ to choose from. As always, measure yourself before you order — what works for your buddy's bike might not be the right height for you.

If you're converting from an OEM windshield to a Klock Werks Flare for the first time, head over to any Klock Werks listing in the LAB Store and scroll to the bottom. There's a detailed video there showing the full conversion, plus exactly how to measure your windshield height properly with a yardstick and a level so you order the correct size the first time.

Installing the Orange Ice Flare Windshield

Since this Street Glide was already running a tinted 8″ Klock Werks Flare windshield, the swap to the Orange Ice 8″ version was about as easy as it gets — no OEM-to-aftermarket conversion hardware needed, just a straight color swap.

• Tools needed: Torx T27 bit
• Remove the four bolts holding the existing Flare windshield in place (don't lose the small washers/spacers that come off with them)
• Set the new Orange Ice Flare windshield in place, center it up, and reinstall the hardware
• Snug is fine — no need to overtighten

Installing the Orange Ice Flare Hand Guards

The Flare Hand Guards kit includes both hand guards plus all the hardware you'll need, though exactly which pieces you use depends on your bike's mirror setup.

• Tools needed: 1/4″ hex bit (top bolt) and a 9/16″ wrench (bottom acorn nut)
• If you have OEM fairing mounted mirrors with a blank mounting hole near the brake/clutch levers (like this Street Glide), you'll use the full hardware kit included with the hand guards
• If your bike has OEM stem-style mirrors (common on Road Glides), you'll pull the mirror, then mount the hand guard using the mirror's own stem and hardware instead of the kit hardware
• Each hand guard bracket gets a star washer above and below it at the mounting point, with an acorn nut threading onto the stud from underneath
• The kit also includes spacers for different handlebar/mirror combinations — you may or may not need them depending on your setup
• Once mounted, the hand guards have a bit of play in them so you can fine-tune the angle to your liking

Worth noting: even on a Street Glide with a full fairing, these hand guards add a noticeable extra layer of protection from wind, rain, and cold — and if you're on a Road Glide, where you've got next to no hand protection from the fairing, they're a much bigger upgrade.

That Glow Is No Joke

Here's the moment that stood out most during this install: once the bike was out in natural daylight, the Orange Ice color was glowing far more than expected — almost like there's an LED strip running along the edge of the windshield and hand guards. It's a translucent, edge-lit look that doesn't fully come across on camera, but in person it's striking. If Orange Ice does this, it's a safe bet the rest of the Ice Kolor lineup (blue, green, etc.) puts off that same glow along the edges.

Why Orange Ice?

Color choice is personal, and there's a whole range of Kolor and Ice Kolor options if Orange Ice isn't your thing — all the way down to a fully clear handguard/windshield setup if you'd rather keep things subtle. For this build specifically, Orange Ice was chosen because it reads with a gold undertone that ties into a few other gold-finished parts already on the bike, including a Figurati Designs magnetic reusable oil filter, Figurati Designs front axle nut covers, a Figurati Designs magnetic dipstick, and the gold lever ends and barrel adjuster on a set of PSR Anthem Pro adjustable levers. All of those are also available in the Law Abiding Biker Store if you're building out a particular color theme on your own Harley-Davidson.

Round Two: Standard Orange on a Road Glide

We took a second set of Flare Hand Guards — this time in the standard (non-Ice) Orange finish — down to the Law Abiding Biker Store to install on Lurch's Road Glide. Side by side, you can really see the difference between the two finishes: the Ice version glows at the edges, while the standard Orange is a clean, solid pop of color.

Since Lurch's Road Glide has stem-style mirrors, the install looked a little different than the version on the Street Glide above — pull the mirror, use the mirror's stem and hardware to mount the hand guard, and you're not touching most of the hardware that comes in the kit. Easy mod, same great-looking result.

The new hand guards joined a few other orange accents already on Lurch's bike, including Ciro Chicane mirrors, Ciro Chicane grips, and orange stitching on his Saddlemen seat — all also available in the Law Abiding Biker Store.
