Video-These are the Ciro 3D Fang LED Signal, Taillight, & Brake Light Inserts for Harley-Davidson. They are super bright and provide additional white light to the front. When you turn the signals on they turn to amber. On the rear, they are white until you turn the ignition on and they turn to red. Hit your rear signals and get the red signal light. 3 Best & Brightest LED Headlights for Harley-Davidson | Real World Testing by Bikers

Vison X LED Headlight (Winner)

Video-I installed and tested 3 of the best & most commonly known LED headlights for Harley-Davidson motorcycles in this video.  I tested these motorcycle headlights in a real world biker environment.  I filmed the results & am sharing my findings with you in this comparison video. There are an array of LED headlights for Harley's in the marketplace, but not all are that good. We all know the stock halogen headlights on Harley's lack in brightness, but there are exceptions depending on what Harley model you get. Some models are coming with Harley Daymaker LED headlights now.

Note: A wiring adapter plug is needed if going from stock 2 plug Harley halogen headlamp to a single plug LED headlamps such as the Ciro 3D Vison X or the Kuryakyn Phase 7. It is your responsibility to make sure you get the correct wiring adapter. These wiring adapters basically convert the two plug stock Harley halogen headlight to a single plug LED headlight plug. This information is just for guidance.

#1-VISION X XMC 7″ HEADLIGHT LED (By Ciro 3D)

The Ciro 3D Vision X is my favorite and came in first place for many reasons. I really like the look of the headlight when off & it looks even better when on! It has a very nice integrated glow ring around the actual headlight that has a really bad ass look. The other headlights I tested lacked this additional integrated LED glow ring. It comes in both 7″ and 5.75″ models in colors black/chrome and chrome.  It also comes in a two set for Harley Road Glides!

The Vision X LED Headlight is priced at $420, much less than the Harley Daymaker at $525. The best part is that the Vision X outperforms the Daymaker at a lesser price. The Vision X is especially impressive in high-beam mode. It produces a more white, thicker, wider, & brighter light than the Daymaker. You'll want to watch my video to see what I'm talking about.  Here is what Ciro 3D says about it.

#2-HARLEY DAYMAKER PROJECTOR LED HEADLAMP

The Harley Daymaker LED headlight is the most expensive and way overpriced. Well, because that's standard practice for Harley.  Don't get me wrong, it's a great headlight & I doubt anyone would be disappointed with the performance. It came in second place in my testing. Here is what Harley says about it.

Cut through the night. Harley-Davidson® Daymaker™ LED Lamps are brighter and whiter in color and provide a superior light pattern over standard incandescent lamps. Compared to the yellow light of a traditional halogen bulb, the LED lamp produces a daylight color impression that appears more natural to the user.

#3-KURYAKYN PHASE 7 LED HEADLAMP

The Kuryakyn Phase 7 LED is a good LED headlight for Harley and comes in at a price way less than the Vision X and Daymaker at only $270. I ran the Phase 7 LED on my Harley Street Glide Special for several years before being introduced to the Vision X. I never wanted to pay Harley for their overpriced Daymaker. I even did a video review and comparison between the stock Harley headlight and the Phase 7 LED. 

I liked the Kuryakyn Phase 7 and it is way brighter than the stock Harley halogen headlamp. It is more of a budget LED headlight in my opinion for those that want a brighter LED headlight on their Harley, but can't spend too much money. It'll definitely be a step up. 

However, the Phase 7 just can't compare when tested against the brightness of the Vision X and Daymaker. So, in the case of these Harley LED headlights, it seems that more money does buy a brighter LED headlight.

North American Motor Officers Association-NAMOA-2017-Behind the Scenes-VLOG 47

Vlog-Those of you that follow me and Law Abiding Biker™ Media know that my full time paying job is as a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO), specifically a Motorcycle “Motor” Officer. That means that I run Law Abiding Biker on the side on my days off. Many of you inquire and are interested in me as a Motor Officer, so I figured now was a good time to share a bit as we have a very spectacular event coming to our local area and I'm helping organize it. I share much more in our Private Patron Member Only Facebook Group, so get signed up. 

My local police agency is hosting the 2017 North American Motor Officers Association (NAMOA) conference. We've been planning it for about a year now and have really been buckling down the past months to make it all happen. It looks like near 125 Motors Officers from all different agencies will be attending and competing. There will be all different skill levels and makes of motorcycles. The events are open to the public. 

NAMOA is a non-profit organization and the entire yearly conference runs on donations. Yes, Law Abiding Biker also donated to NAMOA to help support this awesome event. You can support NAMOA to by going to their website and donating. The primary goals and objectives of the NAMOA are to provide effective, proficient and uniform police motor operations training; and to encourage safety, participation, cooperation and exchange information between police motor officers and between law enforcement agencies with police motor programs.

The training conference also provides an opportunity for thousands of citizens to watch and interact with police officers from all over the Northwest and beyond. Motor officers often learn new skills they can take home with them which will help them be safer at work.

Many of you ask what Police Motorcycle I am currently riding. The answer is I am assigned a 2013 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide and I have it all ready to rock and roll. I recently put new rear brakes, clutch, and rear tire on it. Everything is feeling good and dialed in. 

I handed Law Abiding Biker responsibilities over to Lurch and Big Daddy for the week, as I will be working some very long days during the conference. I'm not only competing but as I said, we have all the hosting agency responsibilities on top if it. 

I'm not sure if I will be able to produce and release a follow-up video on NAMOA 2017 due to me being so involved in it. I do have some friends that are going to try and get footage for me. I will try to get some footage should time allow. At a minimum, we'll talk about it in an upcoming podcast episode.

Video-How to Easily Test Your 12 Volt Motorcycle Battery & Charging System With a Multimeter/Voltmeter | DIY-Guide

Video-Is your Harley-Davidson or other brand motorcycle seem to be cranking over slowly when starting? Does your battery seem to be going bad? Not sure whether you should replace your motorcycle battery?

Recommended Digital Multimeter (affiliate link)

We show you how to easily test your motorcycle battery & charging system using a simple inexpensive digital multimeter right in your very own shop or garage. No need to go running to a dealership to spend money. Be in the know on whether you actually need a new motorcycle battery or not. Or you may find it's not the battery at all and a charging system problem instead. 

Your battery may even be holding a charge, but it's the cold cranking amps that may determine if your battery needs replacement. 

In this video, we show you how to choose the correct settings on your multimeter & complete all the necessary tests.

Set the multimeter/voltmeter to DC volts (20v range). The particular multimeter listed on this page (left) has an actual 12v setting, making it very easy. Many volt meters might only have a 20v setting, which is the one you should choose and will work the same.

Note: These multimeter settings will be used for all the below motorcycle battery and charging system tests.

Static Battery Voltage Test:

Make certain you have not recently charged your motorcycle battery. Let it sit for at least an hour after disconnecting it from a charger. Turn on your ignition so your headlights are on and other accessories for about two minutes and then turn the ignition off. This is to get rid of any surface charge. 

Place the voltmeter leads to the battery terminals. (positive to positive and negative to negative). A good battery should read between 12.4 to 12.6 volts, 12.6v being optimal. If it reads below those values then your battery is not keeping a full charge.

Starting Battery Load Test: (cold cranking test)

Next, you'll need to determine the cold cranking power that your battery is capable of.

Place the voltmeter leads to the battery terminals. (positive to positive and negative to negative).

Now, start your motor. Good readings will be above 10v, 9.6v being the absolute lowest you'd want to see. If it drops below the 9.6v, the battery has a very low capacity and should be replaced.

Charging System Test:

Next, you'll want to determine if your charging system is working and properly feeding your battery when the motorcycle is running. 

Place the voltmeter leads to the battery terminals. (positive to positive and negative to negative).

Start your motor and bring the RPM's up to approximately 3,000. You'll want to see a reading of 13.8 to 14.5 volts to know that your stator and regulator/rectifier are operating properly and charging your battery. If not, then you likely have a motorcycle charging system problem. 

MY RECOMMENDATION AND WHAT I USE (Affiliate Link)

Best Practice & Battery Maintenance:

Consider keeping your motorcycle battery on a simple inexpensive battery tender that just plugs into a wall outlet. The tenders come with a pig tail that you can hook permanently to your battery. It just has a positive and negative lead to hook to the battery. Most new Harley's all come with the pigtail already installed. Just plug it in and it maintains your battery. 

It's an inexpensive way to assure you get the most life out of your motorcycle battery. Even during the summer warm months you can use it, such as a time you may not be riding for a week or so. The worst thing you can do is just let your motorcycle battery sit without being on a tender for longer periods of time. Who wants to prematurely buy a new expensive motorcycle battery?

Video-Rokker Red Selvage Motorcycle Protective Riding Jeans-Biker Review & Test

There is nothing wrong with chaps if that's how you choose to roll. I just don't like the inconvenience of taking them on and off, the bulkiness, and the weight. 

I am a rather progressive biker when it comes to equipment and I'm always looking for better things. Especially, things that have style to them and can protect me better than old school traditional motorcycle cruiser gear. 

There are an array of companies now making protective riding jeans. They vary in the protective materials they use and in price.  These jeans offer protection from the elements and offer so much more protection than chaps if you were to go down on your motorcycle. 

In this video, I am focusing on the Rokker Red Selvage Jeans.  The Rokker Red Selvage Jeans are made from heavy duty 13.5oz stonewashed selvage denim and feature an internal layer of 100% Schoeller-Dynatec fabric for extreme abrasion resistance. An added benefit of Schoeller-Dynatec is its water repellency and wind-blocking properties to keep you safe and protected from the elements.  Rokker Red Selvage Jeans have a protective layer of 100% Schoeller-Dynatec running the entire inside of the jeans, which of course greatly increases the price. 

In contrast, jeans such as the Drayko Drift Jeans, which I also reviewed, have protective  Military+ Grade DuPont™ Kevlar® and DSM Dyneema® panels just in key areas of  the jeans, which keeps the cost down.

The Rokker Red Selvage jeans full interior protective panels did keep my legs warmer than the Drayko Drift jeans limited lining (panels) during cold weather riding. Both jeans were about the same when riding in hot weather and they do breath a bit. They are hotter than regular jeans of course but totally bearable.

Video-Install LED Lights on a Harley-Davidson-Tutorial | Ciro 3D Shock & Awe & Fork Mounted Illuminators

Video-We show you exactly how to install the Ciro 3D Shock & Awe LED Engine lighting kit on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  To complete the entire look you should add Fork Mounted Illuminators and a Saddlebag Extension kit. You can add these items at the time of purchase in the Law Abiding Biker Store! The Shock & Awe LED lighting kit can be used on any motorcycle with a 12-volt system. It doesn't matter the make or year of the motorcycle as the kit is very universal. We guarantee you can install these LED lights with the help of our detailed tutorial video. 

The Ciro 3D Fork Mounted Illuminators will work on 2000 and newer FL Harley-Davidson touring models. This is due to the fact that they are shaped to specifically bolt onto those years/models.

Note: The Fork Mounted Illuminators are an add-on and not required to get up & running with the Shock & Awe kit.

Your first impression when opening up the box is that the product is “quality”. Everything is packaged well. The LED light strips, wires, extensions, and splitters are thick. Other motorcycle LED light kits out there on the market can be very cheap and thin, thus they won't last. The light strips are sealed very well, so moisture will never be a problem. 

My favorite thing about the Ciro 3D Shock & Awe kit is that you can add to it later if you like. Every LED strip you put on your bike has another plug on the end to continue on with another LED strip. The main Bluetooth power block has two channels coming out of it. We hooked channel 1 to run the left and right side of the motorcycle and channel 2 to run our front Fork Mounted Illuminators. With the awesome Ciro 3D Shock & Awe intuitive smartphone app, we can have our front wheel LED's a different color/pattern than the main bike LED's. 

There is also a control knob that you can mount in a convenient location for controlling different colors and modes of lights. However, the smartphone app allows even more control and makes the LED's programmable.
